Postpartum Doula  An aid in making the transition in your home. Help with meals, infant care and general support. As a postpartum doula I bring with me not only my training as a doula but 11 years of experience as a mother of six. I can help you in those precious first few weeks when you need to rest and recuperate, nurturing you so you can nurture your baby. I help you get the rest you need, establish a working breastfeeding relationship, and show you how to take care of your baby. I can help with older siblings, housework and meal preparation. I will even accompany you on that first errand postpartum. I will meet with you in your home twice prenatally to get to know you and your home. I’ll ask you to provide or choose recipes you’d like prepared and find out where cleaning supplies are. $25/hr 3hr minimum (ask about gift certificates! Makes a great baby shower gift) As a postpartum doula I provide: At home support as soon postpartum as you need it and for as long as you need it Basic housework Childcare Meal preparation Baby care basics Breastfeeding help Help with errands Lending library Some of the benefits of hiring a postpartum doula: Increased chance of successful breastfeeding Reduced chance of infant dehydration and hospitalization with health complications due to informed care Less chance of maternal postpartum depression and shorter duration and easier for mother to cope with it if it occurs Less maternal exhaustion, frustration, and apprehension during early weeks.
